1st Annual Knit Out Huge Success

21 May 2008 | Category: | 0 Responses »

The first annual knit out was a huge success.  We raised somewhere between $230 and $240 depending on who was counting.  I was under the influence of helium balloons when I counted so I think we will go with Jan’s count of $230 plus change. There was also a good turnout of moms at this event, kudos.p5100007.JPGAnd we recruited some wonderful crocheters who brought us literally a stack of afgans and baby blankets for Knit 1 Help Many, so a big thank you to them.

Look I even rode my bike that day. Debbie has inspired me, this summer I am going save gas and burn calories by riding my bike to yarn periodically.

Lynn even let us borrow her sweet chefs hat while I grilled the dogs.

Apparently there was a blizzard where Debbie and Hazel were sitting.

Cindy let us play with her clay

Overall it was a super fun and productive day. (How often do you get to say fun and productive in the same sentence?)

^^^thats “i am officially graduated woohoo!”

As of 11 o’clock on Saturday, May 17 I am no longer a high school student. I was really nervous about graduation because as some of know I had to give a speech and I don’t like public speaking or writing.  Even worse, when I read over the other valedictorians speeches, my speech was the shortest and lets just say “least qualified.”  But I didn’t have time to change it so I decided to throw caution to the wind and go with it.  Now under normal circumstances my speech would have flopped, terribly, but when I followed the Bishop’s 30 min “homletic reflection” my minute long speech was well recieved.  So you see, everything works out.

Knit for Change - It’s a Good Thing

For those of you who haven’t been to the shop recently (or have been living in a remote cave somewhere) - don’t forget that tomorrow - Saturday, May 9, 2008 - is our first annual “Knit for Change” event.  The party lasts from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and we’d love to have you stop by.  We’ll be working on charity projects “in public” (in our lawn chairs on the church yard across the street) and raising awareness for local organizations in Reno County.  Come for a little while or the whole day, bring your knitting, bring your mom (it IS Mother’s Day weekend - remember?), bring your lawn chairs, bring a cash donation for the Food 4 Kids program, eat a brat and enjoy the spring weather.  We’ll see you then!
