so we have a 2nd annual mostly felted purse contest going on right now. alas, people have been neglecting to vote…….this might be the reason why we almost didn’t do this contest this year. you know, what i’m going to say next don’t you? this is the part where i threaten you to come participate….just imagine what i’m going to say to y’all at the next twisted stitches meeting. get a move on ladies—vote! always watching, shannon
so we have got a lot of events coming up and i want to make sure that everyone knows about them. we are going to have a “stitch and pitch” next tuesday night….which means that we are going to hold our weekly twisted stitch time together at the ball park in south hutch (guadalupe) to watch and support our own chelsea. so don’t go to the store go the the ball game.
second, we have a “knit out” scheduled for sat. may 10th from 10 till 3. bring a lawn chair and get ready to knit in public…debbie has promised to bring a grill so there will be brats and other goodies, but it would be nice for us to sign up to bring other items..ie chips, veggies, various other eat out-of-door foods.
third, the entries for our 2nd annual sort of felted purse contest are now on display at the store. (stop complaining cindy) so drop by and vote for your favorite….i have no idea when we are going to announce the winners…ask the boss lady…it will frustrate her and amuse me.
fourth, i have put together a calender that you can print off with all of our events in april. click here and print it off.
we’ve set a week for our first kids knitting camp this summer. its going to be the first week in june, if you know of any young people who want/need/would probably enjoy this get them signed up fast! i’ve got even more cool stuff in store for this year.
finally, we are planing a super fun event for june. it will be called “what does your knitting…..” and trust me you will want to participate in this one ladies….i can’t wait for this one. mark you calendars for sat. june 14.
now for your viewing pleasure i give you twins in a handmade blanket.

this is the two little people who were sent the booties…aren’t they cute? sigh…shannon
so if you haven’t heard about the baby blanket project that was bequeathed to me here is a quick update. my cousin had beautiful twin girls, logan and lila, and my great aunt began a pink blanket. she passed away, and since i was the only other knitter in the family it was my pleasure to finish her project. until i saw the yarn…….soft pink acrylic…..it squeaked when you knit it….honest to god you could hear it across the room. anyway i transferred it from the looooong plastic needles to addi turbos and by the grace of everything good and pure and holy i managed to finish it. then i got to thinking…this scary blanket can not be the only thing from the knitting world that these girls get….they would grow up to hate yarn. so i decided to make them really groovy baby booties, out of super soft soy cotton. butter is not as silky smooth as this yarn–and they are kick’n colors too—i’m sooo not a soft pink knitter. i gave the finished projects to chelsea to photograph for the website…and what i got was a picture essay.
there once was some baby booties…really soft, super awesome baby booties.

they were made for walking, which was exactly what they were doing, but they didn’t realize that there was a monster hunting them. *note the corner of the blanket in the photo*

this pink monster had attacked before.

it’s prey was too much for the blanket to consume, so it decided to pick a smaller meal. *I personally think this was mostly motivated by jealously—the booties are really awesome*

they didn’t know what hit them.

and the monster was sated…….for now.

chelsea has taken the time to go through yarn’s lenten “cuss” box and tabulated results. the awesome part is that money was raised for charity, and all of us had to clean up our act for a while. to view the results click here. oh and in case you thought you missed it…the knit 1 meeting is actually next tuesday–april 8 at 6pm and don’t forget to cruise over to the knit 1 help many page to view the upcoming projects and a new pattern.
