What a delight to find an email from one of our knitters-in-exile, Sarah Green, in my mailbox this weekend. It’s always good to hear what she’s up to but she had lots of news to report this time around (she’s such a good journalist). She was in Washington, D.C. fora conference and while she was there she got to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, hear Elizabeth Edwards speak, ride in an elevator with Dennis Quaid (woo hoo!) but the icing on the cake was a trip to visit a colleague at the Washington Post. This good person introduced Sarah and her entourage (ask herabout their age demographic) to Ben Bradlee - a legendary newspaper man and publisher at the Post when they broke the Watergate scandal. Here’s the photographic proof:

You’ve got knitters walking in some pretty tall cotton, Sarah! We’re proud of you!

here it is y’all….the new newsletter is going to be posted on the classes page and here on the blog. my hope is that we can keep an archive of the newsletters this way. wouldn’t that be cool? just agree with me, it’s easier. rock on….shannon

so thus far we have received only one purse for our 2nd annual felted purse contest………were you not aware that the deadline is april 1st? did you *gasp* forget that we even had a contest? don’t you remember our fabulous may day party last year? we all voted on our favorite purses, and ate good food, and drank good drink, and even untangled a yarnado in lieu of a maypole? of course you didn’t forget, you probably have your felted purse all ready to turn in. maybe you procrastinate—that’s cool, i mean i can appreciate that. just remember the deadline is april 1st, and i will hound you until you turn in a purse. it’s for your own good. i’m waiting–shannon
since we can’t get over how we managed to implement this group idea, i thought it might be nice to put up a photo of our frames. i swear this is the last time we going to pat ourselves on the back about this. and really, to be fair, i had nothing to do with it…..but i have absolutely no problem taking compliments. rock…..shannon

roll out the red carpet and hide the good stuff i’m done with the tour. we are working on things all over the store and the website. which means you should keep checking them both out. our new cotton’s are coming in and we are working on revamping the store for spring. our industrious charity kniters (knit 1 help many) are planing projects for upcoming months and they have me hopping trying to keep up with their webpage. while you’re here go on over and gander at their progress. i’m going to post some sample patterns for march’s project (knit with green!) here on the blog, but you can also pick them up at the store or on their webpage. it’s good to be back. rock on….shannon

The staff at yarn decided that in 2008 we needed to do better at having the demos done before classes start so thanks to the instructors hard work this has happened for the March. You need to come by and check out our wall of frames that showcase the class projects and sign up for one of our super classes - there is definitely lots of March Madness going on.
In short, we’re going for inspiration pure and simple. We hope that you’ll stop by and admire that east wall on a regular basis and start dreaming about your own knitted creations then sign up for a class and let us help achieve your dreams. Dream, create and have a great time in the process. What could be better than that?
