Ladies,

Just wanted to update you all on some yarn news.  First of all I can’t make bobbles, knit welts, or seem to finish Dan’s Fair sweater.  The sweater that was supposed to be in last years fair is questionable if it is going to make it this year, as I discovered that I forgot to decrease for the arm holes on the front after knitting 8 inches of cable.  Wow that was special!!!  Speaking of the Fair, I want to let you know that we at yarn have come up with a GREAT new catagory.  Cascade yarn is going to give $500, that rights not $5.00, for an orginial design made with 100% Cascade product, so ladies get cracking the challenge is on.

Chlc has just now put $1.00 in the lent box!!!!  I can’t begin to list all of her baddies, that would cost me.  (Never say sucker with a sucker in your mouth or when holding your tongue, u just tried it didnt you?–Chlc)

Also news flash, there is going to be a story in the Wichita Eagle tomorrow and yarn will be included in the story, so be sure to check it out.  A big thank you to Sue W. who spread the news about yarn, thanks sooooo much.    I want to say another thank you to Julie T. for mentioning yarn on the Debbie Macomber website.  We received a box full of goodies from Debbie Macomber, so next time you are in ask for one of the free patterns.  It is really super to have you all spreading the news about yarn, you are what keeps yarn going and growing.

Don’t forget about this Friday’s (the 22nd) knit nite.  Cindy will also have fleece here if you want to hand felt a purse, so come a join us 6:30 -????  We will also be having our first Knitting for a Cause meeting.  Thanks to Janet R. for volunteering to head up this group, I really appreciate the help.  Our first project was a baby basket that we quickly put together (it is for the Cancer Auction the weekend), Jean R. knitted a sweater, Karen G. hat, Sandy W. a bib, Deb 2 pacifier holders, Chlc & Deb 1 booties and a few other items, now all we need is ringer to get the price up.

Well, I think that just about catches you up and if I would do this more than once a year, it would probably be good.   Thanks again for all of you and very happy knitting.

A Classic Case of Whodunnit

So there was a bit of confusion as to who authored our last blog because, if you couldn’t tell, it was not the same, how shall i put it, writing style of Shannon, our usual blog writer.  As a result I, Chelsea that is, was told i had to post a blog as to how to tell who the writer of a post is.  First off, look for a sign off, such as “-Cheers Shannon” or “Chelsea signing out.” If the post doesnt have a signature then you have to look at your reaction to the post.  If you fall out of your chair laughing then Shannon probably wrote it.  If you feel like you need to wipe a tear out of the corner of your eye, go feed the hungry children of the world, or give a standing ovation then Andrea probably wrote it.  So if you hadn’t guessed by now, Andrea wrote our last blog about our complaint/curse jar.  This is my first blog for the yarn shop so i expect a bunch of response posts especially since shannon wouldn’t let me close until i finished.

This is Chelsea signing out.

PS Shannon says look for the March newsletter on our site.

COMING SOON!!!! A laminated list of acceptable substitutions for cuss words.

Positive Behavior for a Good Cause

Visitors to yarn will find an addition to the counter display - a bank.  yarn has always been a place for positive vibes, positive reinforcement and positively fabulous hand knitting yarns and tools but during Lent, we’re kicking it up a notch.  We’ve declared the store a complaint free/bad word free zone until March 23.  If you want to indulge in grousing about people, places, things, poorly written patterns, knots in the middle of the skein, or politics - it’ll cost you, 25-cents a pop.  Same for bad language - 25 cents per offense.  Good thing the lace knitting class is over.  Our own Cindy the Overachiever is requesting a list of what words will cost her, printed and laminated, so that she can be sure to follow the letter of the law.  It’s simple - if you wouldn’t say it front of your Grandma or clergy person, it’s 25-cents in the box.

We’re working over the next few weeks to say thank you for all things in our lives (knitting is near the top of the list) and not crab about the stuff that gets under our skin.  Oh yes, and the yarn reps were in this past week and there are lovely new spring colors and weights on the way.  There will be a lot more to be grateful for!

And where does the box money go?  We’re putting it towards our new yet-to-be-named charity knitting group. Janet Ralston is heading this group and is putting together some great projects for this year. Don’t forget to include your own name on the group roster the next time you’re in the shop and drop a suggestion for the new group’s  name in the lovely glass vase.  The person who suggests the winning name will win a pair of lovely Lantern Moon ebony needles!  Knit with a passion and knit for a cause!
